I just wanted to add something to the Star Wars recap, I won’t spoil anything or bring up the story. I wanted to share my appreciation for the diversity in the movie, way beyond the main characters. My favorite part of the Star Wars universe are the starfighters. I love the X-Wing,Millenium Falcon, Y-Wing and TIE Fighters and always like how they do the quick camera shots of the aircraft and then the pilot inside the cockpit.
I remember when I was a kid watching the original trilogy all of Luke’s wingmen were white while they attacked the Death Star. The action was so crazy during the dogfights in The Force Awakens but I was able to catch details of Poe’s wingmen. Did yall notice that his crew consisted of a white man, a black man, an Asian woman, and a black alien? I consider the alien to be black because he had that non-ashy brown skin. For me that was one of the best parts of the movie. I know it may seem small but seeing that black X-Wing pilot made me feel good and I’m almost 30, imagine what that image does for younger black and brown children.

Thanks for the recap, it was fun listening to people review something they really enjoy. It’s amazing how many people are trying to find issues with this movie, just relax and enjoy it people. Probably as you’re reading this I’m catching the movie again but in that IMAX 3D playa.

    Yall have a great weekend,

    AJ

    OH. MY. GOD.

Commenting as I listen to the podcast to some extent. I have seen SW:FA once, we have tickets for Christmas to see it again. Soonest we could get tickets again where I wouldn’t have to take another day off work.

Kriss nails it with his assessment of Adam Driver’s portrayal of Ky-lo Rin. He was so awesome. He and Daisy also act their assess off when he’s trying to pull the information out of her mind and she’s fighting him. We get all the effects and music.

You’re so right that this is Star Wars if Lucas had thought out his philosophical stuff, could write, and direct. I was worried about Star Wars in Abrahms hands because I don’t like what he did with Star Trek, but this is so much better. It way exceeded my expectations.

It did take me awhile to warm up to mask-off Ky-lo Rin, but he definitely got there and was so good. But, a friend pointed out to me, he looks like Anakin. The parallel smacks you in the face, but in a good way.

The first Star Wars were funny unintentionally – see C-3PO. This one had the comedy intentionally built in just perfect.

The only complaint about Solo using Chewy’s blaster is that those are supposed to have kick-back enough to break your arm, which is why Wookie’s are the only ones who can use them. But otherwise that entire bit was so good.

Some of your white listeners did catch the “Droid, please!” But I never would’a if it weren’t for listening to you.

BB-8 is like the new puppy. So cute!

This episode make the Storm Troopers what they should have been from the beginning.

I got so confused about the death planet being a planet and the death star. I hate when they word-for-word tell you what is going on, and I so appreciated it when they did that on this.

The Han-Ben scene was heart-wrenching. It was done so well!

Kriss mentioned the 2:15, but I felt like I could watch that movie all day.

All the relationships were established in believable ways. The bro-mance between Po and Finn is excellent. Finn and Rey seem exactly how you would expect that to go, and the actors have good chemistry. To repeat you and Kriss, it was done really well.

I almost hate to listen to what you didn’t like. But, here I go. I’m signing off this comment there.

Thanks so much for your review. I’m loving it!
