Regarding your comments about the racial overtones to news coming from Staten Island, you should know that Staten Island is the hub for where police officers who reside I. The five boroughs of New York and their families live. It also has a sizable population of people who trace their origins on the island to when white people began fleeing the more suburban areas of the city. I can honestly say that of all the boroughs, Staten Island is the one I never feel safe in, and never travel to alone.
