I just wanted to give a shoutout to the show art artist! The sketch is so dope! So talented!
Your story about Nappy’s reminded me of another hole in the wall spot that has some bomb ass food. I was in LA on business and a bunch of of wanted to tour the city on our free time. We were looking for places to eat and somehow ended up in South Central. As we were driving through Watts, we noticed a bunch of white people lined up around the corner at this restaurant right across the street from some projects. I said, “Well, damn, the food must be good if these white people are willing to risk it all to come out here.”
So we gave it a shot and let me tell you, they had the best chicken and fish I ever had. I even had one of their burgers which is what they’re known for. Lord have mercy that place was flames. It was so good we went back again. But the next time the experience got a little scary when some dudes jumped this one guy right in front of us and started stomping on him until he was bleeding. When the dude got up, I reckoned that he was going to his car to get a gun by the way he was talking about getting them back. We got out of that place so fast, but not before we got our food.
The place is called Hawkins House of Burgers if you’re ever in the Watts area. The wait time is a bit long and the only tables are set up outside, but the food is definitely worth it.
Hole in the wall restaurants are the best.
Needless to say but I WILL be going to Nappys when I come for the live show.
