I really like this focus on showing Daniel’s insecurities. His ego is waaay too damn big for his own good. But for the last two seasons we’ve mostly just seen him as this cool, pretty put-together guy, who is really into Issa. Getting to see why these two actually don’t work is really fun. Neither of them is being truly honest about what it is that they want from the other one. Issa is Lucy with the football, and Daniel keeps getting kicked in the teeth by her. But instead of just drawing some boundaries, he pretends that he is cool with all of it and unaffected, because at the end of the day he still wants her ass. This show is sooo good. Love watching. And I love y’alls recaps. Y’all out here doing the damn thing! Thanks!
I Love y’all’s recaps. But, I regret to inform you that you’re losing a listener. Bassey going in on Daniel’s sweater almost killed me! Shoulda warned me, i was behind the wheel!
I think Daniel is most likely a sound engineer who produces on the side. I’m guessing he does the mixing and mastering for the studio clients during the day and then works on his production after hours. As a sound tech on the side, I can tell you a lot of us are quiet, kind of nerd adjacent guys. Its Its not hard for me to believe Daniel is a bit introverted in nature. Heck, even many producers, aside from the over the top boisterous ones (Kanye, Timbaland, etc) are a combination of music and tech nerds lol. I can totally understand him Daniel being caught off guard and then off by Seven canceling, finding out he wasn’t on the list, then discovering that Seven and Spider ain’t as tight as Seven made it seem. That being said, Daniel’s pride was outta control and I’m really glad we got to see that he and Issa make a great team.
