Bless director Navot Papushado’s heart, but, my man, you did not make your lead, Karen Gillian, look sweet at any point during this movie. The moment that I knew this was not going to be a good film, wasn’t even the poorly developed hitwoman-child relationship or the uninspired hitmen or that the beginning pulls a 2014 Godzilla, by cutting away from what Gillian COULD do to hundreds of henchmen. Nope, it was that god awful constructed fight scene at the bowling alley, which had about as much rhythm as Elizabeth Holmes’s Eeyore ass voice. Gillian looked like a spaz fighting henchmen. I couldn’t tell you what or how it was supposed to go, but it just looked bad. The shootout at that dentist was passable, but this is supposed to be a fast-paced, high-octane action film & it ain’t even fast, just stupidly directed. Also, the film would’ve been better off either making Lena Headley the lead (w/Gillian as co-lead) or an even better idea, making Angela Bassett, Michelle Yeoh & Carla Gugino the leading ladies & scrapping the mother-daughter for something more ideal. This film felt more made for them than the two white women having to carry this sham.
Gunpowder Milkshake, I think, had some intriguing ideas but most of them fall short, because the movie doesn’t try. Paul Giamatti is useless, which is sad, because that man commits to everything (this mofo played Rhino in Amazing Spider-man 2 & killed it) & his poorly structured John Wick-inspired unit doesn’t matter at all; they’re just……there. Chloe Coleman needs a better agent, as well. Little girl was good in this & mediocre-ass My Spy & deserves better.
Say what you will about Atomic Blonde & its cliched 80s Cold War aesthetic, David Leitch & Charlize Theron cared to create something there. That action had weight, compared to the half-assedness here. This film ain’t nothing but spoiled blanks with a nice looking diner shop.
Sir Karen Gillan and the lady from Kimmie Schmidt and the Klan pageants ate two different people. Don’t put that evil on Karen.
I liked this movie. I didn’t go in with a lot of expectations. It was just a shoot em up.
Bruh…”Booty Talk 31″….LOL…..I was like is this SMR-Porn Edition…LMAO. I liked the cast and the action in this movie. I was a little disappointed Madeleine (Carla Gugino) had to die, just wanted all of them to live in the end. I understand your point about Emily (Chloe Coleman) being so quick to forgive Sam (Karen Gillan) for killing her Dad, I just took as the cost of being involved with bad people even though he was trying to get out. Overall I thought it was entertaining and had a female John Wick vibe.
