I again agree completely about stereotypical foods with you.
Food is also representation.
Having typical black foods more visible makes them part of American culture also for the people in other countries.
Why should American culture be only white? Like white cowboys ( I know black cowboys existed but they did not in older movies!) hamburgers ( The term hamburger originally derives from Hamburg, the second-largest city in Germany) and Disney ( ok they have non white characters now but maybe for the last 5 years)
