Rod and Karen are joined by Karama Horne aka The Blerd Gurl to discuss her new book Black Panther: Protectors Of Wakanda. It’s a wide ranging and extremely nerdy conversation that lovers of Black Panther will enjoy. We talk about her inspirations, what nerdy details she obsessed over, what she couldn’t quite work into the book, the experience of being a Black woman working with this lore, the heritage of Black Panther writers and so much more.

Damn y’all I’m loving this interview and I’m adding titles to my marvel unlimited as y’all go along. I thought I was thorough in my black panther knowledge, and I’m realizing I’ve got some holes to fill in. Keep up the good work! Can’t wait to cop this novel too!
Hey Rod and Karen!
I’m so excited that you had Karama aka the BlerdGirl. I felt really emotional halfway through the episode because y’all are really my people. Growing up a nerdy black Muslim girl, I felt so lonely sometimes. I only talked to my brother about comics and anime. Not until college did I meet other Black people who openly discussed all the nerdy things we were into. And not until I met my husband did I meet another nerdy black man who wasn’t trying to “test†me on my nerd knowledge. Just loved sharing with one another. I loved yalls conversation it really made me so happy and proud! Because exactly, we don’t have to explain shit! Excited to get this book and read it with my daughter.
Love
Iman
