What’s up Rod, Bassey, and Karen’s laugh.I just wanted to say Great season of recaps. So I started Atlanta over yesterday and I wanted to expand on me and Bassey’s dream theory. I think the entire series is one long dream. In the First episode there was a Darius dejavu scene and everybody saw it. Then there was the invisible car. Anyway great show you guys and I hope to have you both as guests on my Snowfall recap show.
EB
Dear Rod, Bassey and Karen,
I’m a long time listener of your Insecure recaps as well as TBGWT. I’ve never written in before but just had to with today being the day of the Atlanta series finale.
Thank you all so much for your thoughtful commentary. When Insecure ended I literally thought “well at least I have the Atlanta recaps” and now this show is concluding also boooo. With that said, I know everyone says this but you all give the best recap by far. I feel confident saying this after listening to your pods for so long you’re show is exceptional because of both of your broad based tv viewing, your knowledge of writing and film, how open your minds are to tv and media, and the fact that you all are actual fans of the show who watch to enjoy it and don’t try to overinflate your connection to why you do this recap show.
Over the last couple of days I have been listening to a few others (who I won’t name) one is actually hosted by someone who’s pop culture show I really enjoy. I hated them all, they were all either clearly hate watching the show or just watching it because they got the gig. Their commentary was highly opinionated and minimal research was done and no background was given for potential new watchers who may not catch all the nuances the way you all do. On another podcast they kept veering off talking about other shows in comparison none of which I was familiar with. I just wanted to sincerely thank you. Just as I never miss the show the night it airs because twitter has ruined too much for me, I NEVER miss your recaps. The input from the two of you has assisted with how and why I love the show. I will miss speaking back to you as if I’m in the conversation, laughing out loud, and sometimes understanding why Bassey gets choked up speaking about certain scenes. Wishing you three all the best!
Traci
When he stepped next to the tractor to try to push it I was like “Nooooooooo!” as I could see what was about to happen.
I have a question for y’all, but let me know if I am totally off. Do you think this episode was about mourning the death of Paperboi and the rebirth of Alfred?
Stage 1: Denial – The Most Atlanta?
Stage 2: Anger – Born 2 Die (beginning)?
Stage 3: Bargaining – Born 2 Die (YWA plotline)?
Stage 4: Depression – This episode (beginning)?
Stage 5: Acceptance – This episode (picking up the call from his cousin)?
I was SO STRESSED during this episode! And screaming! It was some Final Destination s***! (which I have never seen, but I get the concept). I was like, this is where you gonna die! No, THIS is where you gonna die! Of course, I did know that he was NOT going to die, but it didn’t help my state of mind. Can’t wait to see how it ends. Your reviews are thoughtful and top notch, thank you both!
Hi Rod and Bassey ~ and Karen’s laugh, of course!
I just wanted to write in and say “THANK YOU” for such amazing recaps every single time!
I have listened to every episode you two have done together, starting with “This is Us” and then “Insecure” and now “Atlanta” and I can’t even tell you how much I enjoy your recaps. I always listen immediately as soon as the new episode drops.
I love how insightful and also hilarious you both are, and the awesome connection you two have in your friendship makes the podcast even that much better.
And Bassy had me laughing my ass off on the stair machine at the gym this morning… “We was goofs!”
And Karen’s laugh is the cherry on top. Too good ~ you three are too damn good.
I’m excited to see what show you recap next. I will be impatiently awaiting the return of more excellent “This Too Much” content after this final recap of “Atlanta.”
Until then…
Wishing You All the Best ~
Erin
Hello awesome peoples,
Brian Tyree Henry is a brother that got range. Is it his Paperboi delivery on Atlanta, Phastos in Eternals, old fella in This Is US, or British assassin twin in Bullet Train, he delivers in every single one never a distraction in his performance.
However, I need to know what country medicine healed my man from the battle of the Atlanta Boar? Bacon, whiskey, and ice ain’t enough to stop the infection. That animal both bite and dug its tusks into my already injured homie. He better not die next week and fulfill Bassey’s wish.
Now, why Bassey got to do the only Ijaw man on American TV like that? At a time when most of Ijaw land is flooded or recovering from flooding. C’mon now, have mercy. Darius can’t be a simulation. I’m reporting you to FX, to Hulu, and to the Glovers just in case. Sidebar, I relate to the racism in soccer and I’m rooting for your kid and his mates. Will support
Hopefully the next show you guys cover will be from the first episode. Whatever show it is, I’ll be there. If only Netflix were a weekly release. I feel like Bassey some of the Korean shows would be a hit with her. Just curious, has anyone heard anything about Peripheral on Prime? Anyway, I know the end of Atlanta is here, but we don’t talk about that for now!
Great show as always!
Enjoyed the episode, y’all! Just a note to say I appreciated Bassey giving love to Brian Tyree Henry during the episode. Watching him over the years, I’ve become a full on stan! The man is an ACT-OR. He’s brilliant and should get ALL the roles!
I know y’all may never come back to This is Us … and this is not a request. I’ve accepted it… just a note to say that I’ll miss that content cuz y’all were so good at it.
