The way I cackled when Rod said “no palate cleanser!†That was a very rough Fuckin with Black People so I needed that laugh. As a life long NYer, I totally agree that even in this multi-cultural city, we aren’t immune to the racism all over this country. As much as I travel, I have only had the hard “ER†said to me near my home or spray painted on the side of my house. The people who voted for DeSantis are in the finding out process of the consequences of voting for him. Except the ultra maga super die hard racists, people are concerned with the lack of day laborers and fruits pickers and now Disney is shutting down a project that could have brought thousands of jobs to the state. Funny thing is, some of the Latinos who voted for him are now looking to black people to join them in their fight against him. Latinos overwhelmingly voted for him in the last election. There was a tik tok of a Latina woman asking for black people’s help. Black people tried to help by warning them in the first place. They always want us to do the labor when times get hard but when things are cool they distance themselves from blackness. When black people on tik tok told her she’s on her own she said, “that’s why black people cant be saved†People got in her ass and she had to delete her entire account. I feel bad for the people who didn’t vote for that clown but for the ones who did, this is what they wanted and it’s what they’re getting.

Homeschooling is not allowed. All kids have to attend school for at least 9 years.
I support this rule.
I also see something good in the cards on priests even if it is not a solution. I’m an ex catholic and don’t go to church. But knowing that something like this exists makes it harder to ignore that it is a big problem. Makes the priests less untouchable ( and hopefully they will touch less children!)
About unschooling:
Unschooling or deschooling is an approach that was innovated by Ivan Illich in 1971 (if I remember correctly). Basically, it means that you educate based on the shifting interests of the child rather than by imposing a curriculum. It can be effective, but the homeschooling unschooling movement is kinda bunk as the parents don’t have the expertise to actually carry out unschooling in a way that will lead to an educated well-rounded individual.
TLDR: unschooling is BS wrapped in the veneer of actual pedagogical theory
