For what it’s worth, I appreciated the use of license music here than in Air. Rise spreads it out and uses it better.
The film itself is a fun popcorn flick and feels the most like a Transformers film. For the first time since the very first film, I legitimately liked a live-action version of these (Sorry, Bumblebee, just wasn’t for me). Action beats are good, the plot isn’t this tryhard overzealous bullshit of the Bay days (which, to be fair to Bumblebee, it’s narrative was easy to get into). I pretty much liked everyone here. It did drag when the film got heavy into the exposition beats, when the Manimals/Autobots have to get the McGuffin, so I was starting to lose interest but the third act was nice. Rise of the Beasts is rock-solid, just like Optimus Primal’s pecks.
