Why when I was watching that Jonathan majors video did I immediately think about Michael Jackson breaking up a gang fight in Beat it? I’m surprised they didn’t all break out into dance afterwards.
I’m not surprised that Tyler Perry is promoting struggle love because that’s what he has in his movies. I can’t remember a movie of his where a highly successful woman ends up dating a man on her level career wise. It always seems she has to be humbled and then see the good in blue collar guy. I literally remember a movie with Taraji p Henson where she ended up marrying a homeless dude. Maybe Tyler Perry doesn’t think black women deserve better but that sounds like his own issues to work out, not ours.
As soon as I posted this I had more thoughts on what Tyler Perry said. I actually do think at least in his mind he’s coming from a good place but like the podcasts in the manosphere what he’s saying isn’t much different because he places the onus on black women when we are always the ones who date men who make less. What I’d like to hear is what are his ideas on what he considers a good man? Is he taking care of the home and kids while his woman is working? What is the man bringing to the table besides love? Love and support is all well and good but you can’t also make significantly less and still have a head of household mentality. You have to bring something to the table that’s just as valuable
I come from a working class family and the concept of a house wife with a provider husband was unknown to me until I was maybe 9 or 10. Women in Poland all worked jobs. My grandmothers always worked outside the house.
I couldn’t not work and be a kept wife that’s for sure. Its not in my program. So I never looked for a provider. I’m a stressed but financially independent woman.
Lauren B is absolutely the worst and the normally this behavior would be reason enough to resign. But as you said, it’s only a numbers game now.
Interesting to see that also men will overlook a terrible character for hotness. And not only for a one night stand. ( she looks hot, I give her that)
Maybe what Drew did was good after all by accident? Other hosts followed her lead now.
Five Stars for the episode and a 25% on the Tyler Perry fu**ing with Black people segment. I co-sign with Rod about Black women knowing what to do and how to love Black men. As a Black woman, I have been taught many things about relationships and love for many years. At some point, I had to unlearn many things about marriage and relationships that I was taught, especially the part about staying and working it out when that work comes from one person instead of the couple.
Mr. Perry was asked a question, and he answered it. Let YouTube tell it, Mr. Perry gaslit all Black women in America.
I don’t know why there’s any question. This Johnathan Majors footage is the most authentic conflict resolution since the beginning of Mr T’s Treat Your Mother Right video.
