That teacher didn’t teach those kids that song they already knew it. My brother is an elementary school teacher and he said the kids know all the lyrics to that Sexy read song. There were little girls singing, “my coochie pink, my bootyhole brown” even the little white girls. That song was all over tik tok this summer. These parents just aren’t monitoring what their kids are watching on the internet and want to blame the teachers for using creative ways to teach their children.
It’s crazy that Jann Werner can’t think of a single black master of rock even though black people were the foundation for rock. Rock music was copied by whites and packaged to a white audience to make the music more palatable. The same as country music. I think that’s why so many black peoples gatekeeper rap and are resentful white rappers even the talented ones like Eminem.
Jann was so comfortable in his racism he told on his damn self.
Jann Wenner would never play SkeeYee for the kids. In all fairness though he’d also never play To Pimp A Butterfly, Songs in the Key of Life, Electric Ladyland, Folklore or Rennaisance for the kids. Especially not Rennaisance ’cause that’s a woman and a black. Double inarticulation.
Also, you are right Rod. The message was for a long time that Rock and Roll was for the whites. I used to think something was wrong with me because I loved all the hair metal…until I saw In Living Colour when I was pushin’ weight, back in ’88. (Disclaimer: I never actually pushed weight). They made me realise that there was more to this rock shit than white boys with long hair and led me to a world that contained Jimi Hendrix and Bad Brains. What’s even more ironic is that he named his magazine Rolling Stone, after a band that modeled their whole musical legacy off southern blues. And by southern I mean Black. The whole foundation of American popular music is Black, but you know, niggas don’t speak good. Fuck Jann Wenner as a staff, record label and as a motherfuckin’ crew.
When terrible politicians come to power I once asked myself if it makes me feel any better to know that I as a upper middle class person who is in a opposite sex marriage and works for big pharma and has a German passport will not be affected a lot, at first at least.
The answer is no. Not at all.
When others suffer, it’s still very bad. I can’t feel good knowing that other lives will get worse.
So either I’m a decent person or generally anxious. Or both! ( I think its both)
