I love it when Vernon and Corey come on the show! This conversation made me think about the challenges my best friend has faced as a Black woman in country music.
Forgive me for the shameless plug. Her name is Rissi Palmer and she has a dope podcast on Apple Music called Color Me Country. She interviews artists of color to talk about their contributions to country/folk/americana music. Some past guests have been Darius Rucker (Hootie and the Blowfish), Chapel Hart from America’s Got Talent, Panama Jackson of Very Smart Brothas, and songwriter Claude Kelly. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about country music. The show is funny too!
I really enjoy when Cory and Vernon come on the show. They’re so knowledgeable about musical history and they’re so funny as well. I was just thinking that we’re about to get a record amount of black and women nominees for the rock and roll hall of fame this year. That always happens when white people get caught on the summer jam screen for their racism, they tend to over correct but this is good for Destiny’s child because they’re eligible.
I’m sorry but I don’t think I could eat kangaroo cooked by anyone. I can’t eat an animal that can fuck me up in a fist fight.
Did someone say Hennessy cupcakes?

Not Unique across the top! LMAO!
Just do that ‘Roo like polynesians and cook it in the ground. No pot needed!
I love that you have Living Colour on — how wonderful that they are friends of the show! I’m an oldhead, and I remember working in a record store (look it up kids) in the late 80s. And in come the new CDs, and we start playing that Cult of Personality in the store, and I was like, wow, this rocks!! Then we all found out that the band was black, and I was blown away! At the time, it was hair bands and metal, Motley Crue, Poison, Ratt, etc. Living Colour was to me revolutionary. For that alone, these fellas need to be in the Hall of Fame, but honestly, what does that even mean considering who’s doing the choosing. Corey and Vernon are also very funny. Great show!
Oh, one more thing. Rod – Steely Dan is my go-to for travel music also. Great for car trips!
Yo! That’s EXACTLY how I felt when I was in New Zealand. I was talking to this Māori bartender and I was was thinking to myself, “damn y’all the niggas AND the Indians here.” She was asking me about all the police shit here. International fuckery summits happen everywhere I travel lol.
