The Nerd Off: (Protected Content)
Yo, what is up Rod, Karen & astute nerds?
Ok, so, I’ve been on a bit of a trek for some old DC Animated Universe material for the past six to eight months. I already own these shows on DVD but now I’m making the moves to get them on Blu-ray, for a bevy of reasons. One of them is, I plan on writing a full retrospective on these shows from Batman: The Animated Series to Justice League Unlimited. Then I realized, as much as I loved those shows and treated them as my “stories” just like moms & grandmothers alike await the next plot twist on a Young & The Restless, I never really watched Batman: Brave & The Bold. I’m only four episodes in & goddamn, this shit is lit. For an old 2008, it’s mad colorful, funny & charming. I really liked the Blue Beetle & Red Tornado team-ups. And it’s accompanied by some top-notch voice work just like the old DCAU or Timmverse (an ode to one of the series creators of that 1992-2006-era) in Bruce Timm). Unfortunately, there’s no Blu-ray for Static Shock or The Zeta Project but I’m getting those anyway on DVD. Just bought Samurai Jack, as well. I know I can catch these things on Stream but with how these platforms are ducking & dodging & dumping content like they’re aging ferries. Plus, it was a well renown program like those other shows I talked about.
Gaming has really taken a backseat since I’ve been grinding away at Mortal Kombat 1’s Invasion Mode. Dealing with ol cheatin’ ass Nitara & her constant healing. Going to attempt to beat that boss tonight with loads of leveling up. Been buying lots of shit that I may or may not get to. I bought Need for Speed Unbound Deluxe for $8, recently! Game Pass is more clutch than Tom Brady. I did get Forza Motorsport, Dead Space Remake, Blasphemous 2 & Red Dead Redemption 2 (most of them were deluxe or ultimate versions) for good deals during Black Friday & I’m just biding my time for the low prices of Starfield, Street Fighter 6 & Robocop: Rogue City before January.
RIP Norman Lear. Made a lot of great shit, made a lot noise as a liberal. Hell, mofo even lived longer than Henry Kissinger. GOAT shit, man. Give ’em hell in heaven.
Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hanukkah & Happy New Year, y’all.
Hey Nerds, loved the episode and everything regarding what y’all are watching. Rick and Morty leveled up since y’all spoke as well. Sheesh. Ima keep it short and let y’all know Foundation is my series of the year. It’s a Beautiful Epic Sci Fi series that rivals the likes of Dune respectively. The discussion y’all had about how good Apple series look had me think about it. Ight that’s it, catch y’all niggas later. Peace.
What it do Nerd Off Crew,
I hope all well.
Rockstar dropped that GTA 6 trailer and I cannot wait to live out every lie Rick Ross put on wax. I’m gonna need to move a lot of weight to afford these Vice City strip clubs. I’d say it’s about damn time we get different body types in GTA but I also never thought GTA 6 would happen since Rockstar created a money farm in GTA Online (which is a fantastic example of an MMORPG that never got called an MMORPG).
The mountain of awful animated dads is almost unfathomably high to scale and endlessly storied. Years of marveling at Goku sometimes babysitting his sons, Richard Watterson’s foolishness and Shou Tucker saving his job and on his grocery bill at the same time? Who knew that Omniman would say “bet” and leap that shit in a single bound! I don’t wanna mention spoilers here and leave that to y’all discretion, but one thing definitely had me throw my hands in the air like “Of fucking course he did.” Also is it weird
Have any of y’all seen that “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” on Netflix? I started watching it and love the animation style and differences from the movie. And on a related note, Rick and Morty this season is still fantastic and delightful watching the writing room show the fuck out.
I hope y’all have a wonderful weekend. Stay Black and nerdy y’all.
Peace,
Dough
What’s good awesome Nerds,
I came across this article and started laughing. It was funny to read one of the award darlings use a defense for his work that if an MCU director did, these haters would tear into them. Rod feel free to summarize the article https://www.avclub.com/ridley-scott-napoleon-french-critics-1851034530
Blue Eyed Samurai what a way to take what could be the usual average revenge story and turn it into something beautiful about relationships, family, aspirations, anger, love, and so much more. The action was also muaaaah!
I saw a trailer for Pantheon on Amazon recently and was wondering how come they never promoted it. Prime be hiding their good stuff and as soon as I watch it, canceled!
Hey yall,
I just wanted to mention that I have a bone to pick with Bandai Namco and other companies who use similar methods. My favorite game, Tekken 8, will be coming out in January, but of course my main isn’t in the main roster again for the second installment in a row. They just know that all the other popular characters they can include as DLC in the next season and make more money. I know it’s the way now, but I’m just mad that my character will be DLC again and I’ll have to wait a year or so before I actually want to play. Justice for Anna Williams!!
Also, are y’all watching Blue Eye Samurai on Netflix? I’ve only watched the first couple of episodes, but I’m enjoying it a lot.
