I’m not really sure what to make of the Amanda Seales interview. She seems to have a response for everything and there are a handful of people who speak highly of her. But when so many people have a problem with her, I’m of the belief that you may be the problem because you’re the common factor. I think it’s interesting that she said that when she talked to Issa and Issa said she has a tone when she talks to people. To me that’s constructive criticism but Amanda doesn’t seem she’s receptive to any criticism, constructive or otherwise.

If I may quote Rod from the feedback show again… “This is a workplace!” Amanda Seales can’t just be wrong, she insists on doubling down and being LOUDLY wrong. It’s becoming clear why she’s not really likable in the entertainment community at this point. Just because you say the n-word on the show for a script doesn’t mean you can just throw that around the set or conversationally, especially once someone has explicitly told you they are not comfortable with it!

Related… I know of Amanda Seales, I’ve seen her work and stories about her, yet every single time her name is mentioned I go “who???” and gotta do a quick google. The name ain’t naming for me! I can’t put my finger on it, but she just seems Candace Owens adjacent.

This episode is funny as hell, Y’all did your thing on Foolishness Friday!!! The conversation about the comedy and The Amada Seals ish is the truth. Plus these kids are the future and your arresting them for there opinions and expressing their angst. Republicans are going to receive the biggest dose of FAFO in history. If y’all ever come to Detroit my wife and I got y’all for dinner. . .

    Hey Rod and Karen,

Wonderfully fun and funny show as always! I felt for J.L. regarding the rudeness he experienced at the church door, except my family and I got into it a bit with a lady at Midnight Mass one Christmas Eve in Cambridge, Massachusetts. We were waiting for mass to start and everyone was talking. My younger brother was excited and talking (the lights were low because at this church they brought in a fire on a brazier (hard to explain)). Anyway, she had the nerve to turn around, with a mean, pinched look on her face, and literally and loudly shushed him/us. Yes, she was and yes we are. We grew up in an 85% Black Catholic church in the South so this was new for us.

So my mom commenced to talk about her, her racism and stupidity so that the woman and some folks around us could hear it. I know she could feel our eyes on the back of her head throughout mass. Soon it was time to give everyone the Sign of Peace. This is part of the mass where you hug or kiss a family member/friend, wave at others in the church, shake hands, or give the peace sign. It is usually a nice and warm moment.

My mom and I looked her squarely in the face when she turned around and no we did not give her the Sign of Peace. She quickly turned herself right back around, and her family was looking all nervous- even though we did shake their hands. I get what JL was saying. People should at least pretend to be mannerly at church. We tried that Christmas Eve night but it is what it is. The great James Brown wisely said, “Don’t start none, won’t be none.” – even at church.

    Love you guys, xoxo

I shoulda known I couldn’t beat Apia out the gate…

That being said, in Japan we have local anesthetic as well, sometimes (I’ve had root canals with no local anesthetic)… I went to the dental surgeon to get a wisdom tooth removed and he took a bad x-ray… So, this guy numbed a root and then started pulling. Then, when he realized the numbing wasn’t effective, he numbed another root… an hour later, he’s finally numbing the fifth root and getting into position to finish the job.

He said this was the first time he had seen someone with five roots, and I had the feeling that I’m sure J-L felt when they guy didn’t say thank you for holding the door open. Numbness, pain, and anger…

I’d like to say the reason I didn’t say anything about needing to get a decent x-ray, or at least checking visually before starting, was because I was taking the higher road. The truth of the matter is that my jaw was too numb to move and I was in too much pain to say anything period…

I had my share of dentist experiences unfortunately and in Germany you NEVER go under.
You get local anesthesia and the reassurance that life is pain. ( ok, the later is not a given)
No matter what, root canal, tooth extraction or other not fun stuff.
On a I’m sure completely unrelated note, we don’t really have a mass problem with pain medication addiction.
