    Hey Rod and Karen,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and fun reviews. I enjoyed this movie. Lupita and Joseph Q. did that. He died in Stranger Things but survived this demagorgan. I think they did a brilliant job especially since there was not much dialogue, and I enjoyed the chemistry between them. I get the slight tinge of magical Negro, but that is balanced by the glee knowing bigots are going to be mad because this white man was following around and depending on a Black woman, and adopted her black and white cat. I liked that it was the dude having panic attacks. Often men don’t get to portray that side of being human in movies. It looks like Bad Boys Ride or Die and Quiet Place for the win on that one.

I love most animals, but one of my favorite animals is cats. I loved this cat. His face was so expressive. It seemed like he was saying, “I don’t know what y’all are gonna do but I am out. Fool around if you want to.” He made two mistake that I remember (hitting that marionette hat with the bells and going into that weird feeding area), but other than that he was just getting out of the way, minding his cat business or “helping”. He was no dumber than that person dragging the suitcase -although I don’t know how they even lasted. There were definite leaps but I didn’t mind them. In theory, cats are perfect for this kind of movie because they are mostly quiet and know how to get the hell out of dodge when things pop off. This definitely was an Impossible White Cat movie though. I was very happy to see Lupita take the helm in this movie. I hope she is getting her bag. Thanks for the awesome review. xoxo

Good film. Lupita & Joseph are simply stellar together & there’s plenty of thrills but there’s not a lot here that screams ingenuity. Not to mention some scenes that seemed cut for time or context (like Joseph’s character saving the cat from the huge monster & other monsters) That being said, I was thoroughly riveted by that third act & its display of giving a terminally ill character her way to live in her final moments. I just can’t help but feel there’s something missing beneath the otherwise solid filmmaking from Michael Sarnoski (Director of Pig, the Nicholas Cage film, which is really good).

Hopefully, Part 3 offers something new & different. Again, this was still a solid movie.

This movie was a weird one. First of all, you guys were spot on your review. I enjoyed the movie and at the same time, if it didn’t exist I’ll be fine. I thought that D’Jimon Honsu’s character would actually have more of a role otherwise why show him mistakenly kill that dude (could be the intro to One Punch Honsu for the next Quiet Place). Also, the trailers had my man in it a lot. Still didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the movie.

I’m glad you brought it up. I was like Fuck that Cat, wth trying to go outside now? You can’t scratch them or piss on the aliens, I got to carry + feed you too? Would PETA come after me if I flung you in one direction and ran in the opposite? A good animal would have warned me that shits bout to go down, just busy going bout and actually taking a black job.

Great point about people who snore, guess I’d be one of those to die in this universe after surviving everything and lay down to rest without my CPAP machine. Nah the cat will probably MEOW loud af by my head and then I get killed. Fuck that cat!
