I think people have short term memories and won’t be talking about Biden’s debate performance in the coming weeks because Dump is going to do something stupid again like that staged assassination attempt. I think the only way we won’t win is if we don’t vote. I have hope that Biden will pull it off for two reasons, one I don’t think the Russian propaganda is working as effectively as it did for the 2016 election because they have been responsible for the same misinformation in other countries. In the recent elections of UK, France, Mexico the left came out on top when faced with a far right candidate. Second, white women don’t seem to be as complacent as they were in the previous election now that Roe v wade has been overturned. They know what is at stake here. They could always fall back on the comfort of whiteness but I think some have been activated as shown in the last election cycle. And to anyone who thinks Joe Biden should step down they need a visit from the folding chair guy from Fade in the Water.

I agree with your point about Aemond being well written and acted. That’s exactly why I want to see him gone so bad. But the point that you and the listener made at the end about Aemond possibly being a sound leader after the war, I see the flip side. Aemond was out for that eye when Rhaenyra was the named successor. That was always a capitol offense, and he never cared. The accidental killing of Luke is one of those cases where he thinks it’s all good to do a thing, but can’t see past the thing itself to the impact and have the restraint not to do it. Like he would point nukes and keep brushing his hand against the button and then be surprised when he set ’em off. He’s studied the history, and he’s practiced for war. We haven’t seen him show an interest in the peace or the machinations of governing. Even in the small council, we’ve only seen him pay attention to tactics of war. It could be that he would make a good ruler, but I don’t think to this point they’ve shown us anything other than his war side. We haven’t really seen the madame do much to give counsel other than talk about the small folks, so I don’t think we’ve seen he’s particularly amenable to wise counsel. And since he seems to be the mirror of Daemon, he may be just as unfit.

One thing about the comment from the listener and your response re: older Black men being pandered to with the “Black Jobs” point is that all of the old Black folks that I know that engage in that talk about illegals start with conversations they had at work w/ their White coworkers. Then, you get the family telling them that if those coworkers are so quick to talk to you about “illegals”, then what do you think they’re saying about Blacks when you aren’t around? Sometimes they get it then. But the root of the conversation in my experience, has always gone back to their coworkers or fellow service members.

I think that the damage from the debate for Biden’s chances are 1-10% from his performance and 99-90% from the punditocratic disasterbation which has been going on afterwards.

After watching the debate I still feel the only one with age-related mental infirmity is Trump and still think Biden’s chances of living through the next presidential term is about ten times as high as Trump’s.

Rod, you and Karen are absolutely right about the whole “Replace Biden” “movement” being fueled by people (almost all male whites) who didn’t want Joe Biden to begin with. It’s the Revenge of the Bernie Bros. Which does my heart good to see the black voter (with the occasional special snowflake sprinkled in) standing up and saying “What we ain’t gonna do is….”

To put it another way: I’ve asked multiple groups of “Not Joe” “voters” one simple question: If Joe is mentally declining and can’t do the job, why have NONE OF YOU talked about invoking the 25th Amendment. It’s almost like they don’t want Harris either. Weird, huh?

What I see when import in to LinkedIn today:
A story liked by a colleague how a homeless men somewhere in you country got a makeover and went from looking terrible to fine. New hair, new clothes, clean.
Now he hopeful goes to a job interview to start a new position as a cleaner or so, only soon to work his way up and become the ceo of this company, so he can have his own story for LinkedIn.
( we just ignore for now other possible problems. We just hope his homelessness was caused by his bad hairstyle and clothes and now, everything is solved. )
The next strory tells me how human kindness is the most importantly thing ever.
    I mean, yeah!
In the thinrd, a very pretty woman tells me how she got her first customer ( I think she is a coach) at Craigslist and how through authenticity she worked her way up despite a bad childhood. Because she never gave up.
Everyone had it so hard. I start feeling sorry and than I remember that I am an immigrant who came to Germany at the age of 12, with only little language skills.
I could win those hardships Olympics if I wanted!

People present themselves as kind, hard working and honest here.

When I see a person of whom I’m know that they are a terrible boss posting about leadership skills needed today ( and they claim to have them), its extra funny.

      • RoninRaphael

Sometimes, those are the ones with the most amazing or interesting quotes about leadership on LinkedIn. It’s clear that they never applied it on themselves. It still makes a fun read lol.
