You two hit most of the points that I was thinking about, and Raphael’s comment caught most of the rest. The thing that I kept thinking about is that people don’t realize how big Blade was. Blade, the Matrix and Gone in 60 Seconds were like the 3 DVD’s used to push buying DVD players in the early days. And I’ve enjoyed watching that movie countless times on DVD and cable over the years. I saw the movie opening night, so that was a really good surprise for me.

And Henry Cavill’s quick appearance, that also made me chuckle.

I did wish Domino found her way back into the movie, though….

I honestly have very little to say about the otherwise solid Deadpool & Wolverine. It’s fun! Didn’t see a few things happening (Wesley calling out Mahershala as Blade, Gambit’s so-shitty-it’s-adorable accent, Chris Evans going Sam Kinison on Nova behind our backs?) It doesn’t necessarily change or break the MCU & I’ve seen better meta-movies but it’s a good middle entry into a franchise that I didn’t think would be the best thing from Fox (besides The first Blade, although, that was formerly distributed from New Line Cinema). Hugh Jackman & Ryan Reynolds still got the juice & Emma Corrin’s is just lovely as Cassandra Nova. Some of the bits do stretch their welcome a little too hard for my taste (The “hundreds of Deadpools” didn’t work for me) but everyone here was giving it a million percent. It has heart, the story has some heft & it’s pretty fun.

If people bitch & moan about this being “too funny” like the “criticism” of Thor: Ragnarok, then these movies & comics just aren’t for you.

Also, Wumni Mosaku & Rob Delaney? Fuck yeah!

After my second viewing of Deadpool & Wolverine, I appreciate the Fox Mutants Universe + Blade, Elektra, F4, and Daredevil even more. As a fan, I can be over the top sometimes and just like on one of the Hollywood Reporter roundtable that I watched, an episode with executives from the major studios (including Netflix and Amazon) was asked “why some movies end up being bad?” Interestingly it was the Sony exec who said “none of us set out to make a bad movie from day one. ” All the other studio guys nodded in agreement.

Deadpool & Wolverine was a beautiful finale to the universe that Fox built and I thank them. Because so much good came out of it despite my petty whining back then. They gave us Kevin Feige, that alone should be enough. I was so happy to see Jennifer Garner looking fine too. Never thought I’d see Wesley Snipes and Ryan Reynolds in a scene together after all the talk about what went down during filming of Blade 3. I was so happy to see that. Channing Tatum finally got his dream to play Gambit. Chris Evans hahaha. There was a lot of cameos, mad respect to the creative team. I can see why rumors of Shawn Levy directing an Avengers started popping up. In the end, biggest appreciation goes to Ryan Reynolds for his commitment to the character of Deadpool to the point where he is down to play it with the mask on most of the time. Of course the abs of Hugh Jackman, who can forget those? I have been okay with recasting him for a short king, but as soon as he put on that mask. I said LFG (did you notice X-23 said the exact phrase like her papa?)

I’m just so happy after seeing this. Last thing: so Johnny Storm talks more shit than Deadpool? I know that’s one of the major shit talkers in the MCU. Welcome to the MCU Deadpool & friends!
