    G’Day Nerds

How good were all those teasers & trailers from D23?

Deadpool & Wolverine was so much fun.

The new Fortnite season that started today is all based around Dr Doom.

The Rings of Power, Agatha & Skeleton Crew still to come this year. I’m a happy nerd with all this stuff on the way.

Also, Karen, how you going with the Coral Island update? I’m trying to get this last T-Rex fossil piece to finish the museum still. But I’m enjoying the underwater water stuff as well.

    Cheers

Hi y’all, Felix here. Been a while but I finally got another comment on on time haha. Been working a lot so been MIA online these days, doesn’t help twitter is basically 4chan at this point but onto the subjects at hand. Of the nerd news while I was away, the news about Doctor Doom had me upset for a solid week. Now I understand Robert is a great actor and could definitely do the character justice but I’m hoping this isn’t a precursor of Iger and Feige flinching in the wake of how absolutely putrid the fandom culture can be nowadays. Everything else is on a wait and see stage for me. After d23 I am now more excited about the other stuff coming soon. Fantastic 4 looks amazing, Captain America looks great all things considered and thunderbolts could be really interesting. I’m a bit sad marvel content has been light this year because I’m very much still enjoying most of the output (except secret invasion, between the AI art intro and the fumbled ending I cant say I enjoyed it).

On the X-Men 97 news I was so upset to see that news today. The fired showrunners was all up on the timeline acting cute when this stuff was going on behind the scenes. I’m hoping this mess gets resolved because some of my homies work on that show and it’d be a shame to have this overshadow how great that show is.

Brief star wars aside but I really enjoyed The acolyte in the end. The story was enjoyable for what it was but I wish they hadn’t set us up for something slightly different with how they talked about the story going in. If people knew this would be a setup season going in I’m sure the vitriol wouldn’t be as bad but as is it’s so unbearable to even interact with star wars fans in the wild now. They don’t like nothing fam.

And lastly I started cutting down on streaming services recently and have been buying dvds again. Moreso to have on in the background while I work in my home office but I have watched so much recently. And also I missed dvd special features and commentaries so much. I think I’ll be sticking with dvds for a while because the slate is looking a tad light for shows for a while. I can’t rewatch 3 body problem and Interview With The Vampire a 10th times so yeah. Would be curious to hear if you guys feel the same on physical media these days. What pushed me was I was in the middle of streaming Elementary and Fringe on Amazon prime then they both got taken down and moved to separate streaming services so I just bought the dvds instead. Anyway, as always, love y’all, Felix out.

    Salutations, beautiful nerds.

Movies are humming, Gaming (when there’s not any job losses) is gravy & Beau DeMayo could stopped talking at anytime. This mofo is down so bad, he pretty punctuated his career, when all he had to do was shut up, apologize for the sexual harassment & stop trying to thirst trap at work. Simple as that. Everywhere this man has gone, he has a shitty legacy following him & with main character syndrome being a thing, he had to go “Mommy Dearest” on Twitter.

On a lighter note, saw Alien: Romulus yesterday afternoon & thought it was cool. It’s still in the hue of Ridley Scott but the Fede Alvarez ideas is where I want more of these to go. Hopefully, the next installment is more “Aliens” than “Alien” itself.

As for gaming, been playing a mixture of Street Fighter 6, Vampire Survivors & this indie game that used to be on Game Pass called Olija. Started playing it again on Friday night & lost myself in it. Also, long live the XBOX Marketplace store. I’ve never owned an XBOX 360 but that store felt like a game changer in the digital age. Even bought tons of game from the store in case Microsoft can’t get past those pesky license agreements. Bought Remember Me before the store closed & May just buy a 360 & experience it.

Anyway, have a good weekend. Peace!

    Greetings Nerds,
Last year around this time I wrote in to talk about the 2 day Sea of Thieves convention Fest of Legends in exotic Columbus, Ohio. I had a good time, met some people, won a prize in a compatition. This year’s event was even better. Bigger venue, better hotel accommodations, more activities to do, more swag we got for free and/or buy, and most importantly, more organized. The costume contest was outstanding, just seeing all the effort and creativity put into them was very cool. I myself did have a costume, sang karaoke in it at the after party, but it was nothing compared to the other folks. Someone actually cast custom medals for the winners of all the competitions. I mean they melted and forged metal for this. We took over the indoor pool for a day to have mini sail boat races. The other hotel guests were miffed they couldn’t use the pool. Fuck em, there was a pool outside in the rain they could swim in. There was even a q&a session over zoom/skype/video call with the 3 of the heads at Rare set up for us
Overall the weekend was very fun and eagerly awaiting next year which has already been announced.

This was our second annual Fest of Legends convention but over in the UK they held theirs ,”Sea of legends” the week before ours. To recognize these 2 things were going on in, the developer Rare recognized what we were doing and for those 2 weekends there were bonuses for all the people playing and formed alliances in game. Basically if you were nice to other players you got double gold and XP. Our 2 concentrations are not connected to each other or affiliated with Rare at all, but it was so cool that we were recognized by the company in that way.

I left out a lot of things but I feel like a am going long so I will end with my list

    Reading: Comic books
    Watching: TV screens
Playing: Hades ( after 2 years figured out how to actually progress)
The Sims 4 (still coming out with expansions after 10 years and still dont have a drum set)
Sea of Thieves ( as usual when I write in the 3 times a year, look for tommydeee if you wanna sail Nerdoff Nation. Always looking for new players)

    Now I am done.

I didn’t know if I should leave this comment here or on House of the Dragon recap, but since it includes gaming I decided here. Did you know that ol boy who plays Corlys oldest bastard son has his own gaming coy? Surgent Studios with their debut game available on PS5, Xbox and more. It’s called Tales of Kenzera. I am not a gamer, and was scrolling through my YouTube and saw Corlys chatting with son in real life ( Steve Toussaint and Abubakar Salim) and that’s how I found out that Corlys (Steve Toussaint) will be voicing a character in Abubakar’s next game I think. Conversation is available on the YouTube channel of the studio, it was a fun one.

    Salutations awesome Nerds,

My bad if my comments wasn’t clear. I was talking about about the Black Dr Who episode 6 and not saying that Karen should go back to watch previous Dr’s. I was saying that I thought that you two will enjoy that episode. Thanks for the awesome work.
