Rod and Karen banter about Tiger Balm and Kamala Harris and Joe Biden feeding off each other. Then they discuss Columbia University’s president steps down, Trump News, Biden Admin strikes deal on drug prices, Biden Admin raising Head Star Teacher pay, Cornel West disqualified from MI ballot, woman wear shorts to job interview, Lizzo trolled over fitness video, OnlyFans billboard, stinky feet man shoots father, cool t-shirt bro and sword ratchetness.

Karen, Tiger Balm is THAT shit! It’s almost like a mini-massage. Them big niggas from those Vicks commercials calling that white dude “my pasty friend” should’ve made a killing getting those checks. It’s good shit.
Hi Rod and Karen. I fall in the “wear what you have to to get and keep the job” camp. I have to wear a tie and business attire to teach kids who don’t care to be educated. It’s archaic and for the optics of professionalism, but I get paid to do it. Appropriate for work seems much more difficult for women, but to “die on this hill” means accepting the consequences of the objective reality in front of you. When teaching kids this, they want to protest and go against a rule, but not suffer the consequences. I’m not suggesting she “die on this hill” quietly, but to expect support from taking a principled stand of her choosing seemed a stretch.
Ps. The WHO News and new Banter intros are absolute bops! Every time I hear them I break out into a mini dance party! Amazing creations!
I think the bigger issue with the shorts isn’t so much that she wore shorts to the interview but when the recruiter suggested she change the woman refused. I think if it’s the type of job that would be okay with shorts I don’t think they would have said anything. She could be flagged as someone they would see as a problem. I’m not saying that’s right but how it is for most corporate jobs. That being said, I think this was all just for content anyway because it seems this is what her entire page is about so not even sure if this was to real.
The dress code in my industry got way more relaxed, I wear only sport shoes or doc martens for example and dresses in the summer. When i started, a dark pant suit was the way to go and lady shoes. Im glad this is over. But shorts are something more. If you are unsure, wear regular pants especially for the interview.
Years ago, I had a conversation with my cousin that’s always stayed with me.
He was upset when I suggested that he might need to cut his locks, as it was still a significant factor in job interviews back then (mind you, this was for a conservative industry, think engineering or an architecture firm).
He got heated and said, “So you’re just going to conform and not be your authentic self?” I responded, “No, authenticity is for my friends and family. These companies have a culture/ look they want their employees to fit. I know what industry I’m in, and for this paycheck, you’re going to get Corporate Black Man, who let’s them think I’m their friend.”
Corporate America taught me something early in my career that I still carry with me in many decisions: Do you want to be right, or do you want to be effective? You’re lucky when you can be both. A lesson I wish Season 1 Auntie NeeCee learned!!!!!!!!!!!
Five Stars but not for those people claiming to carry some man’s juices and shyt is not demure! Ugh…this country and its people. I am tired.
On the dress code thing… it’s hard to judge here, but I’m going to have to side with the opinion “that is not an appropriate workplace outfit” especially for an interview. You’re going in blind, you don’t know the culture of the workplace – but you can go with a baseline neutral and conservative, middle-of-the-road outfit. This isn’t even female-centric shaming, if a dude showed up to an interview in shorts and boat shoes for example, he’d just as easily been shown the door. Look like you’re a serious person!
You may way more for prescription drugs than we in Germany. Even our big pharma people say that the American market is insane.
For example you can become really rich as a doctor who does infusions in the US. And as the producer of course. Our drugs for ms and migraine are pens for self use and that’s why they are way better selling in Europe. No incentive for doctors to choose infusions here. Way lower prices for the patient.
Pay way more
Hello, Rod and Karen! Can you say who the new banter song is by again (played at the beginning on this episode) ? It’s dope and I would like to support this person if I can. Thanks!
