I really liked this one maybe more than I expected, as the story has more growth than the trailers let on. And the fact that Roz has more growth & self-awareness (even if this is a property under Comcast & DreamWorks) was pretty damn hopeful. Voice acting is great, especially from Lupita Nyong’o. Film’s emotionally deep. I didn’t stay for the post-credits & knowing that detail of those ten seconds, I would’ve felt a way.

Finally a movie I saw! My daughter had been pumped for this movie since she saw the trailer in like DECEMBER. She would ask me almost monthly “we’re going to see Wild Robot in September, right?” She’s an avid reader, and loved the Wild Robot books a lot, and now she’s looking forward to Dogman (which is its own book series as well).
I cried… the part where Roz was like “I do not have the programming to be a mother” I just lost it… me neither, girl… me neither!

Listened to The Wild Robot review right after taking my 10yr old nephews. They’d been asking to see it since they saw the previews when we saw Inside Out 2. Apparently it’s a book they had read so they were very locked in. One of them told me it’s the first movie he cried in and the other said he only didn’t cry bc he cried when he read the book. Of course I balled.

I say all of this to speak to the age range because our theatre was packed with other children, mostly boys, that were around that age. I think the book popularity probably is driving a lot. In the end I read it as a story and commentary on motherhood.

Can I just say I was so shook at all the death? When the possum was talking about being a mother of seven, then you hear a scream and she says mother of six…I lost it lol.

    Thanks for the review!

I wasn’t expecting The Wild Robot review, but I’ll take it. You guys are right about this movie being a charming one. Also, the early part of the movie did frighten my 6 yr old as she kept grabbing me, hiding her face in my arms, and sometimes covered her eyes. I even heard sobs coming from behind me and was beginning to think if I had fucked up. Soon all the kids were laughing hard and I could return to being the greatest dad in all timelines. The kid won’t shut up about the Wild Robot on our way home.

Thanks for pointing out how trailers add to the feeling that a movie is too long. We arrived early to this screening and I started to feel that the movie was too long. Overall a good time!
