    Totally agree…

I can’t find anything I disagree with as far as y’alls analysis/reflection. I just find it weird that white folx keep throwing good money after bad on the whiteness bet. Just going back to Antebellum, the rich whites were fucking over the poor whites and the poor whites weren’t *loving* indentured servitude, but once there was, full on, American style slavery — they had a pariah class of people… and that placated them somehow. And that’s my question. How does being able to abuse other people make your abuse better? Even if you fantasize about power, why would you invest in toying with the mastery playset that a pariah class provides and not invest in getting those resources that allow the masters to master y’all too?

    Hey Rod and Karen,
I’m writing in mainly because I want this somewhere on wax. Rod, I absolutely agree with you that I refuse to feel bad for thinking that an extremely qualified Black woman could win the presidency against a felon, rapist, idiot. That doesn’t make me naive or overly optimistic, it just shows how sick this country is. And I’ll forget.

I’m in CA where they want to pat themselves on the back for enshrining gay marriage into the constitution (even though they banned it the same year they voted for Obama) and they keep talking about seceding from the country. Meanwhile, CA voted to keep slavery in the constitution, increase penalties for petty crimes, and they wouldn’t vote to raise the minimum wage … $1. I’m not standing with y’all either! White people don’t know how to truly be in community and I’m tired of it.

I’m also really disappointed in ww. Their queen TayTay told them to vote for her. They were out here watching Agatha talking about how they were the witches that didn’t burn in Salem. Kamala told them their husbands didn’t have to know their vote and they were putting up post-its in bathrooms for social media clout and then they did what they always do. They went into those booths and voted for white supremacy. I will never forget.

I was worried about folks sitting out or voting third-party and instead this election showed us exactly what they want. I will say, I take some solace in the fact that many of them are already seeing the effects of their vote. I’ve seen at least four examples of his supporters who have already seen their jobs or healthcare affected by preemptive measures that people are taking before he takes office. And I’m like that Donald Glover gif: GOOD!

I wish you and Karen the best. Thank you for your honest coverage of this election. I know we’re cooked and just know y’all are part of my community and we got us.

Rod you were so right about the inconsistency of the arguments and the fact that there were folks “on our side” who either split the ticket and voted trump or left the top of the ticket blank because the senate race margins and win/loss ratio is NOT mapping onto Kamala’s performance. Down ticket Dems out performed consistently in each of the key states. For example, in Michigan and Wisconsin, the Dem Senate candidate won with relatively close margins, vis-à-vis the tight race the Harris campaign was warning about prior to election day, while Kamala LOST by roughly the same gahtdamn margin the Dem senators WON by?!

Add to that current counts in New Mexico and Arizona and it’s looking like white Dems and Latino men Dems (shout out to Latina’s for coming in 3rd to Black folks) stabbed our girl in the back because the Dem senators are poised to win (and it’s not lost on me that the Dem candidate in Arizona is a Latino man…).

Even in the cases where Dems lost the senate seat, the senate candidate outperformed Kamala, look at Bob Casey lost in PA who lost by roughly 4 points while Kamala lost by roughly 12. That’s a three-fold difference! Our side, specifically white people and Latino men, abandoned her, and there is really no other plausible reason than misogynoir.

Update: I jumped the gun on Bob Casey; the most recent tallies put the down ballot votes more in line with the top of the ticket in PA. BUT, in the current Montana count, Jon Tester lost by roughly 7.5 points, while Kamala lost by a little over 20 points, which is more than double, so the general point still stands. smdh :-/

I just read that there was over 100,000 ballots left floating out there that have to be looked into. 100,000 provisional ballots that McCormick is suing over as well. So there is still time for Bob Casey to improve his margins.

THE TRUTH: the Harris campaigns ground game was impeccable and, likely, saved these seats as well as other down ballot candidates. But it couldn’t save her because a lot of people who voted blue down ballot also came in that booth and voted for Trump or left it blank. Its a huge betrayal to the most loyal voting block and they don’t want to admit to it.

I usually don’t comment but I wanted to say something here. Every now and then the US does something that will smack Black people in the face to remind them of who they are and what this country has done to them. Those moments are crystallized and go on to impact the Black people that are coming of age during that time. Obama winning was a great moment, but I do think that there is a generation of Black people that saw the emergence of the Tea Party afterwards as smack in the face. For some, it was George Zimmerman’s acquittal or seeing images of Mike Brown’s body laying in the street. For some people it was George Floyd. Or maybe watching the clip of Ahmaud Arbery sprinting down the street while being pursued by armed racist people in a pick-up truck (that moment always terrifies me cause I think about how scared he was in that moment). This election was some Black people’s moment…particularly, a chunk of Gen Z that saw the drama of the past and just thought their elders may not have been fighting hard enough or didn’t know how to actually make change. They thought things were better in a way. That in the end, if you work hard enough, we could skip over this thing called race. Some times they talk more about class as the separator and not race. They were kids when Trump won the first time. Hell, they may have even voted for Biden. And this time around, they thought this task was gonna be easy…and they got smacked in the face. Those are the people I feel most sad for. Those younger Black people that are now understanding why the Black people of the south opted to go with Biden during the 2020 Primary.

Last thing i’ll say is that I am often reminded of the words I heard Sistah Souljah say during an interview that has stuck with me for years, even more so now. She got into a heated back and forth with Cornel West on some talk show. She pointed out that we keep “making a moral appeal to a country that doesn’t have a moral conscience.” They keep trying to appeal to the “better angels” of America and that simply doesn’t exist in the way they think it does. They are out here calling Gen Z Hitler’s youth because so many of them voted for Trump when we traditionally consider the youth vote to be liberal. A lot of Black Gen Z got a HUGE slap in the face.

Man….so I started listening before the 2020 election, and that gut wrenching dread in my stomach that I felt that collective week of tallying votes visited me again, and persists even now. But I’m glad I’m here because everything i could think of, every erroneous point, every “what if” or “what about” i had in my head while trying to come to terms with this, yall talked about with nuance and care and expressed what I couldn’t even get out of my head in this state of anger, and disappointment. And I know it don’t mean much to the overall situation, but thank you for that. Your voices are very needed, and welcome at this time.
I just don’t know where we go from here. Another generation of black people have to fight massive oppression, again!? We have to fight against Billionaire donors l, willful ignorance, bigotry, rasicm, and misogyny, and growing generation of you red-pilled gen z men, and what’s new is this resentment from other minorities. White supremacy must be the best tasting dish of all time if you willing to cut off your nose to spite your face. Like damn, it feels like black people are fetishized for pushing a cause or a movement, but then getting kicked out after one night like a hook up. I don’t even know where the dems go from here if they are seen as “the party of black people” by others, and they resent us(for whatever damn reason). You might be right, maybe a push towards the right is what it will take. Just go after the white women, and Latino population, and when you make bills benefiting them, name it for them and throw something at the end for us maybe? I don’t know man, I’m just hurt and confused. I tell you one thing tho, wherever my sistas go, whether staying here, or third party or whatever, that’s where imma be at too. Full stop. Screw the rest of that “coalition” smdh.

    • Cgeter

You know what, one more thought came to mu mind as I sit here burning about the mf’ers that stabbed us in the back; how many people you think wanted this to happen, cause that “rage content” machine was drying up under Biden? I know the media wanted it, but i bet some of these online blacks™️ couldn’t wait to release these think pieces, and “follow me to freedom cause I’m THE ONLY black™️” sermons. I guess business is good again. Again my bad, I’m just royalty pissed off and venting….

  7. DizzyLizzyGyal

We cooked indeed. Thanks for this yall. America is a land of contradictions. My fellow Californians went for Harris but voted to keep slavery while incarcerated in place, voted to bring back a version of 3 strikes, and voted against rent control. I don’t get it.

I hope I see yall on Blue Sky (you don’t need invite codes to join anymore). Who knows what Elon will do come January, he might shut down Twitter altogether.

I’m so damn MAD at these white women for failing us AGAIN after pulling the “We’re all sisters” bs. I live out here in NV, in a small town so I know I’m surrounded by the red whites. However, what I didn’t expect to happen was these broads INTENTIONALLY voting to allow abortion, while also voting to put Trump back in office, knowing what he did last time. 60% here voted for choice, and OVER 60% voted for Trump. I went into work on Wednesday (stupid af, I know ) and went to the bathroom to try to decompress for a moment, was greeted by two white chick BAWLING in the bathroom. I gave an eye roll, and ignored when one of them called my name. Man, I ain’t got nothing for you, Becks, go talk to your sisters about the choices they made. My group understood the assignment.
