Happy New Year, Nerds.
Ok, I gotta talk about Robocop: Rogue City, which shocked me at how unbelievably impressive it is at making you feel like a walking tank with that patented Auto-9.
The story is set within Robocop 1-2 & it does a fine job of recapturing & adding new wrinkles. But it’s the gameplay that absolutely shines as the aforementioned titular character. It’s in 1st person & you just go around recognizable area in series lore, either shooting punks, Mercs, ED-209, etc. You can even upgrade your pistol with collectable specifications to improve your weapon & add percentage chips to em. However, beware of the penalties as you attempt to upgrade the Auto-9. Took a while for me to get the hang of it, but after awhile, it doesn’t feel daunting. You even give people tickets for violating the law & save hostages. I’m currently replaying it on Hard mode on New Game+ but when you’re upgraded to being the long arm of law enforcement, you feel pretty unstoppable. I got the deluxe version in 2023 & just started playing it after uninstalling MK1 & I’m glad I did.
Even played Tekken 8 but I haven’t really gotten used to it.
And to close it out: Den of Thieves 2 is just as juicy & hammy as the first film! As they say: CINEMA IS BACK, BABY!
Peace!
Hello Awesome Nerds, a happy and successful 2025 to ya’ll.
I enjoyed What IF S3 but once again I started to notice negative talking online about it so I kinda kept to myself and my kid. Enjoyed you guys on For All Nerds talking about Skeleton Crew, I love that show.
Squid Game is back and awesome. A new season of Jack Reacher is coming, I can’t believe that they got someone twice the size of Reacher, so excited to see this latest showdown in one of my favorite white action man genre. Cross delivered too. Prime just delivering solid adaptations of some books that I enjoyed.
Shout-out to Karen for getting me on to Amulet, it’s a cool read, thank you all for being awesome!
Oh, so much blank space here. Hey Karen and Rod, my internet play cousins!
I have been listening to yall since early 2020 and have written in or commented maybe a handful of times. I don’t do Paypal so I hit Rod with an email and he made it easy to Zelle the money to get hooked up with the premium content. I’m glad that I finally did.
Rod, I am one million percent aligned with you on any Star Wars movies or shows. Even the stuff I don’t love, I just can’t hate it. The Skeleton Key just continues to put a smile on my face week after week.
I wanted to specifically address your mention of The Acolyte, though. Of course we can’t know for ourselves what the numbers Disney (aka Big Mouse) actually has, but here’s what my thoughts are:
1. Big Mouse says that The Acolyte costed $230M for the 1 season 8 episodes. If (big IF) we take that for a fact, that’s not sustainable for a TV series in any era
2. Big Mouse says that viewership had a DRASTIC drop-off in viewership after the third episode, where the Force Witches made Force Babies. I generally remember the internet being very stupid and incel-brained about that action, even though I was pretty much off of social media at that point. So that tracks. I don’t know if the numbers are true, but I know it was a thing
3. I love that the single season we got had loose threads, but was also a complete story. I think it’s not really possible to make a movie or show that doesn’t leave some room for questions like “what do they do next?”
Overall, I think this show will age well, depending on what Big Mouse decides to make next in this era of the galaxy far, far away, in a time long ago.
Love both of yall
Fuck, I forgot to mention *why* the internet was stupid about this. Hard-core Anakin fans were in shambles about the idea that Anakin was not the only immaculate conception in the entire history of the Star Wars universe.
