I co-sign that 1.5 out of 5.
However, I must admit that whenever I am escaping from trained sniper assassins, I also use glass bottles to dispatch them as well.
It is also an un-scientific fact that hiding behind cars will always buy you just enough time to locate a glass bottles, which coincidentally are genetically predisposed to manifest unbroken and in fact whole in airport garages, near parked cars.
Just saying, do the math without the numbers, statistically you’ll smile harder.
Carry-on, unfortunately, had me want to just carry on about my day. Blah script, forgettable plot & the usually solid Taron Edgerton is just so basic (which is more of a screenplay problem than an acting problem, to be fair). It’s a shame, because this could just a mindlessly fun ripoff of Die Hard & it feels exactly like a watered down streaming movie, which is what it is.
Jason Bateman & Danielle Deadwyler did their best & honestly, I would’ve preferred if Danielle was the “John McClane” of this joint. Obviously, rewrites would have to be part of that equation, but it’s doable.
Before I go, Rod, check out Life After Fighting on Tubi. Long story short, it’s about an ex-MMA fighter who runs a marital arts school for children, falls in love with a divorced woman, only to have that woman’s ex & his mercenaries come for him. I don’t want to spoil it for you, just expect this dude, Bren Foster (who also directs & wrote it), beat the shit out of these muthafuckas. Yeah, it’s basic but sweet AF. Check it out.
I must see this movie on Tubi! Ahhh man it sounds like B movies GOLD!
I can suspend disbelief when it comes to the villains having a far fetched plan with implausible intel and lethal bomb. However, it’s the busiest travel day of the year and twice the hero encounters the villain in an empty public bathroom and the damsel is chased through a parking lot devoid of people driving around for parking by a sniper who can position his murder van in any place that is convenient is asking a lot.
