If soap operas were named for the soap commercials that ran back then, why hasn’t any tv show been named for drug ads by now?
Joy, and really all the White hosts on the View, bristle at the notion of MAGA being deemed racist. They’re always trying to give an out for the economic anxiety because that’s what they hear their friends say. Just once, I want them to examine why any of those folks could overlook the fact that 45 didn’t deliver any of that stuff in his first term, and he didn’t produce one solid plan for economic improvement in this election while Kamala posted policy and plan galore. While she was a part of a very successful administration. What is it that strips all of that accomplishment? What is it that gives this failed businessman, pandemic president the benefit of the doubt? They can never admit that the benefit is in itself racist and/or sexist.
The politics segment does make me mad because the news is infuriating, but I really appreciate getting to hear your sane, educated takes about what’s going on in this country. After hearing you mention the show, i listened to the audiobook of The Cruelty in the Point, and it gave a lot of context to the current moment, which was, if not exactly comforting at least grounding and affirming the truth that the open racism and bigotry that Trump embodies isn’t anything new to American politics.
Also, I love your idea of cutting off the politics segment when either or both of you get too mad, because it’s important not to burn yourselves out or make yourselves miserable talking about the Trump administration’s bullshit all the time.
I was mad after the first stories. Anything political these days makes my blood pressure rise.
