I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve seen every single Tyler Perry movie? Do I think they’re good cinema? No? But am I always entertained? Absolutely.

Congestion pricing can’t work as a solution to fund public transportation improvements without safe and viable public transport already in effect. It’s like a transportation ponzi scheme. “We’re charging you more for driving here so we can improve the subways” but there’s literally no guarantee those improvements will ever come. Think of all the times they raised fares and things are still as shitty as ever.

  3. RoninRaphael

We have a car, and I support Congestion Pricing. I hear the example that you gave and that’s fine plus understood. It can’t be that all the activists who pushed for this and all the Republicans were 100% against Congestion (although offered no better option as usual) happened at the same time. A lot of thought went into it for the communities affected to the point where even cab drivers are exempt (I’ve seen folks crying who I know don’t know how to drive). I remember when bicycle lanes were introduced in my neighborhood and we all got mad cause it took up parking spots. Shit worked and it’s good. Nobody’s complaining now. Gov Hochul should have introduced it earlier and stuck with the initial $15, before settling for $9.

I get why she didn’t, she’s worried of a primary looming plus she barely beat the GOP dude the last time (Trump blessed boy is very confident right now). The other cities in the world with Congestion Pricing, did they use a magic wand? Whatever gets implemented to improve the transportation systems will get attacked and there will be complaints. I want to see the implementation of this. It’s far better than overtime for NYPD (there needs to be more officers, topic for another day) or throwing National Guard on subways. We need more lines now and there’s no Pete Buttigieg to be sympathetic to us. I mean we can always try Boring right & make Elon extra richer. Give them a chance!

I’m not against congestion fees but I was right that it would have more issues being implemented than people thought. Especially when implemented under Eric Adam’s administration. I was right about that and I stand by that.

      • RoninRaphael

The Congestion Pricing is not by Eric Adams, It’s from our state governor. Adams has zero say over It’s implementation. Especially right now. The card he has, has been played and it’s why the governor doesn’t remove him. My point still stands, why has it been the GOP overwhelming being against Congestion Pricing locally? NJ state governor is the Dem against it and has promised to retaliate on behalf of his citizens. Do you sir. We need the and it ain’t coming from Feds until after 2028 well…

Once again I’m not against. I don’t think it’s bad policy. I don’t know why you keep bringing up dems voting for it. I’m only saying that implementation is a pain point for stuff like this. And often it’s not as seamless as it is pitched to be. It’s the same principle behind the obstacles to “defunding the police.”

We’ll revisit over the years but I’m sure this battle isn’t over. It’s just hard to do ideas like this without pushback. They may need to carve out some exceptions for certain types of people.

          • RoninRaphael

I believe that you & I are on the same page. There are already plenty of exceptions carved out and yes it shall be revisited over the years (100% in support of that). It just needs to survive this early stage especially the GOP onslaught and the election cycle. If people don’t fall for the incoming Elon and co false news attacks to vote Red. It will only get better in implementation. Hopefully, New Yorkers will do less talking and show up to vote against the real evil trying to hurt us.

Fyi I been trying to respond to Apia, then forget what I’m trying to say after typing here. I remember finally lmao. Love you Rod but don’t distract me from my mission goddammit or I’ll ask for Stephen A Smith voice!

The send up of the Tyler Perry movies, OMG!! That is so true. That made my day

I’d like to see drug opera. But of course here it’s prohibited because of ” ethics” and ” customer protection”.

Without Karen there would be not the same show, she is absolutely important for tbgwt and I really like her. How dare people to disrespect her.

I don’t know if I agree about the wisdom of seniors. Some are wise. But we see enough older people who are in charge and don’t seem very wise but hateful. As little as all young people are better, all older people don’t have wisdom.

    • rodimusprime

There’s nothing to disagree with about old people because no one on the show said “all old people are wise or good.” Something I specifically addressed when Sean said something similar. We are talking about a specific archetype of a character in a comic book fiction. Please don’t imply something was said that we didn’t say.

      • ApiafromGermany

I know Rod, it was said in one of the feedbacks. I agree with you.
