I used to order from SHEIN but I stopped because the clothes were cheap but they would only last one or two rounds in the washing machine so while I save money initially I’m not really because the clothes don’t last long and you have to buy more stuff to replace what you lost. Never touched Temu because I know too many people have has their credit card numbers stolen from using them
It was nice to hear Karen’s mindset shift on self-evaluations. I have a Word document that lists all of my accomplishments and activity over the year since it is easy to forget and when it is time to start filling out the assessment, that documents comes in handy for metrics and advocating for yourself when it comes to merit increases and pay raises.
I’m so excited about all this branding news for you!! I think the purple and teal colors are perfect since you all are such Hornets fans, and it is a unique combination — just like you two! Also, very random – but one of the things that makes me laugh every time is during the commercial you two read when Rod says “bacarah” and then Karen says “not that bacarah”. I never fast-forward just to hear it – it takes me out every time lol.
I’ve never ordered from Shein, but a few years ago, my mother foisted an Outback Steakhouse coupon on me, but I wasn’t able to use the coupon online, so I had to call in my order and read off my credit card number (because I want to just pick up my food and GO!).
The waitress who took my phone call and gave me my food was a skinny young white girl. Lo and behold, later on that evening, there were a couple of large charges ($150.00 and $277.00) to Shein. It’s a Capital One credit card and they don’t play, so there was no problems getting those charges reversed immediately.
I called the restaurant manager the next day to let him know what occurred; I wasn’t accusing anyone of anything, and I don’t need anything from them, but it sure is a coincidence that the one time I read off my credit card number my card gets these charges the same evening (right after closing time at 11:00 PM; if you’re planning on stealing from me, you could at least wait a few days in case I don’t notice!) and that he may want to be aware! He seemed to be hip to it, because the waitress I referenced fit the profile of a Shein customer (whatever that means)!
It made me very happy, that Karen advocated for herself. And from what I heard, her company isn’t evil, even decent.
So maybe you will get a bigger raise. And even if not this time, it was still good overall for personal growth. For those who can advocate to others but not themselves, try to imagine a colleague who does all the good things you do and isn’t you. A woman named Sharon.
What would you think about Sharon’s work? Would she deserve recognition?

Thanks for talking about Sen. Chris Van Hollen going to El Salvador to try to see the man Trump’s admin illegally detained there. Listening to you talk about it, I paused and called Sen. Van Hollen’s office (I live in Maryland; he’s my senator) to thank him for that. You’re totally right that he put his own personal safety on the line and I’m proud to say that I voted for him and that he represents me.
